Maintenance 1 / Meadow Park
Resort Municipality of Whistler

I really appreciate giving back and offering opportunities to the community. A lot of people come to Meadow Park to teach their kids how to play sports and work with teams. People use this resource to recover from injuries or just to make themselves better at whatever sport they’re interested in. It’s a positive environment.

I balance pool levels so they’re safe for swimming and do ice maintenance so that everyone has a nice clean surface to skate on. I am also responsible for ensuring that the refrigeration plant is in safe working condition. My duties also include keeping the facility clean and tidy for customers.

COVID allowed us to time to update systems and deep clean the facility – things we could only do when it was empty.

A lot of work we do isn’t seen by the community, but it is very important as far as safety goes. Without these maintenance workers and the effort that they put in, Meadow Park just wouldn’t run. It wouldn’t be the same place.

One of the things that is important about Meadow Park is that a lot of people come through this facility for events. It provides the opportunity for community to get together.
